IT’S bigger than your average-sized supermarket but for the Kim family who are selling their Rochedale mega mansion, it isn’t big enough.

The family say their remarkable 4470sq m southside home which has eight bedrooms, is not quite big enough for their extended family.

Korean businessman Phillip Kim and his family have lived in this immense property at 600 Rochedale Road, Rochedale for three and a half years.

All up there’s 14 people living there — Phillip and his wife Julie Kim with their three children, along with his brother Thomas Kim and wife Martina with their four children plus a nephew and his parents Ignacio and Theresa Kim.

“We have eight bedrooms all up here. But there’s five bedrooms upstairs which is where we mostly live and only two bathrooms (upstairs), so it’s very cramped,’’ Mr Kim said.

“We are lucky as our kids have a staggered start and some kids start early, the others start late and the mothers get up early for breakfast and to pack lunches.

“So that is the reason we are moving as we don’t have enough bedrooms or bathrooms.

“It’s like a grand hotel, we have a ballroom which is a big selling feature of this house. It has a stage.

“The original owner built it for parties, but we are just a big family raising kids so we are not into parties. It’s a big area, a vast space. There’s power-points in the floor for a band.

“There’s eight crystal chandeliers. We plan to live next door to each other in Rochedale if we can find some land to subdivide in this area.

“We have a home theatre which gets a lot of use playing Wii games and watching movies.”

Ascot agent Mikki Finlay of McGrath Estate Agents, has been blown away by the online response to the home.

“I haven’t seen anything like it. It’s only been on the market for two weeks and we had 66,000 views on realestate.com.au.”

“This house is more than an acre under the roof. There simply isn’t anything like it in Brisbane.”

As Ms Finlay said this is a signature estate renowned and admired throughout Brisbane for its remarkable design.

“This extraordinary residence takes grandeur to a new level comprising an astonishing 4470sq m floor area. Soaring ceilings of over six metres create a spectacular entry to this magnificent home,” she said.

“Overlooking a significant land holding with 12 hectares of lush, rolling countryside; this comprehensive estate is perfect for those looking to secure a private, resort-style gated retreat for their family.

“Rochedale is a rapidly developing suburb with a mixture of rural acreage and quality residential developments.

“Positioned within 20 minutes to Brisbane CBD and Airport. A truly extraordinary once in a lifetime opportunity.”
