Alica Schmidt is a German athlete, model, and personal trainer who won the ‘Silver’ medal at the 2017 Grosseto European Athletics Under-20 Championships and the ‘Bronze’ medal at the 2019 Gävle European Athletics Under-23 Championships – both in the 4 × 400 m relay event. She was also a member of the German relay squad at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics (held in July and August 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic). Alica Schmidt Facts
In July 2017, representing Germany, Alica won the ‘Silver’ medal at the Grosseto European Athletics Under-20 Championships in the 4 × 400 m relay event. Her team recorded a time of 03:33:08 which was faster than the previous age group world record. However, the ‘Gold’ medal-winning Ukrainian team pipped them to the post by improving further on that record.
During the same tournament, she had set a personal best time of 54.23 seconds in a qualifying round of the individual 400 m event. However, Alica was withdrawn from the final round of that individual 400 m event to let her focus on the aforementioned 4 × 400 m relay event.
Later in 2017, Busted Coverage, an Australian sports and pop culture magazine, dubbed her ‘the world’s sexiest athlete’. Although uncomfortable with such a tag, she stated in an interview that this led to a spike in her social media following. As of June 2023, she had more than 3.7 million followers on Instagram.
At the 2019 edition of the German Athletics Championships, Alica stood 3rd in the under-23 category of the 400 m event. She was also a member of the SCC Berlin (a German sports club that was founded in 1902 and is based in the Charlottenburg district of Berlin) team that finished in 2nd place in the 4 × 400 m relay event.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, she used to trek alone to a local forest and run there to maintain her fitness.
At the 2022 edition of the German Indoor Athletics Championships, Alica finished in 2nd place in the 400 m event.
She was also a member of the German team that stood 6th in the final of the 4 × 400 m relay event at the 2022 edition of the European Athletics Championships.
In August 2023, she challenged footballer Erling Haaland to a 400 meters race.
