Dylan Bernard has been on YouTube singing his heart out to some of your favorite tunes for some time now, from hits like “I’m Not The Only One” to “Take Me To Church” he’s showcased his extreme talent and vocal range and has wowed in the process.  In addition to being a sensation on YouTube, Dylan has also been making a name for himself on stage, opening up for artists like Cody Simpson and Raquel Castro and the crowds love him.  If that weren’t enough, Dylan also just released his debut single, “Flames” and it’s an absolute smash – from it’s incredible lyrics to the passion in Dylan’s voice as he sings, it’ll be stuck in your head for days once you hear it.

Before we go down in flames, you can leave me in the dust, before we go down in flames no there’s nothing left of us.

We got to chat with Dylan about “Flames“, what he’s got in store for the rest of 2016, and a little bit about what inspires him musically, with his talent, his kindness, and his drive – we know we’re just seeing the beginning for Dylan.

Dylan, Why was the cover art for flames so important to you? The photo is smoldering and seems to speak deeply about the message of the song, is that what you wanted to portray to your fans?
“I definitely wanted to portray as much emotion into the cover art as possible allowing people to connect at first glance using different elements. Adding the smoke blowing across my face signified a relationship after the final flame was blown out . For me, I found personal healing in that, change is good and sometimes things have to go a little south before it gets better.”

You’ve blown us away with your single, has the reaction been more than you expected thus far?
“Thank you so much, I’m so happy you like it! I can honestly say two years ago I never would’ve thought I’d have my own work of art out in the world for people to connect with. I am completely blown away with the amount of support that “Flames” has received already. Just knowing that there are people out there who enjoy my music, really motivates me to continue what I’m doing.”

Most musicians find a style and work with it because of influences to their own music libraries, who are some of your biggest musical influences?
“I love connecting to the “new classics.” For me, I’d say I’ve been influenced greatly by artists like Nathan Sykes, John Legend, Ed Sheeran, Jason Mraz and Tori Kelly! All of which are definitely all over my music library!”

What is an album you can’t go more than a few days without listening to yourself, or a song?
“Sia’s whole “1,000 Forms of Fear” album is constantly playing in my head if not blasting from my speakers. Her vocals are incredible, but her songwriting is just as amazing. I can’t go a day without listening to her. Sia’s music is timeless.”

You’ve opened up for some pretty awesome names; Cody Simpson, Aaron Carpenter, and Raquel Castro, have you learned anything from the artists, and what’s been the most exciting part?
“I opened up for Raquel Castro at an anti-bullying event in New Jersey, and so to just be a part of something so positive was an amazing experience. I was one of the opening acts for Aaron Carpenter and Taylor Caniff at an event that took place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. It was actually my last performance before I moved to LA, and it was certainly an experience that I will never forget. I was lucky enough to be one of the supporting acts for Cody Simpson at a show he did in Hollywood. It was my first show in LA and just being able to connect with the audience really told me that I was where I needed to be.”

What should we expect from you in the near future, do you have a big end of 2016 planned?
“Leading up to the end of 2016, I plan on finishing and perfecting my debut EP and hopefully releasing it for everyone! I will continue to be posting YouTube covers, which you can find here. I’m hoping to do some event appearances and a few live shows. You can stay up-to-date with those on my Twitter.”

There’s no doubt in our minds that you’ll all be able to find a piece of yourself in Dylan’s single “Flames” so be sure to check it out on iTunes and keep up with his social media – he’s got some awesome things coming up!
